carjacking

An Everett Police officer searches the suspect at 23rd and McDougall

About 2:45 Sunday afternoon Everett Police began receiving reports of shots fired and someone with blood on their face driving a vehicle in the area of 24th and Chestnut near Garfield Park. There were also reports of a man carrying a gun running west from the park.

Multiple Everett Police officers began checking the area. After a few minutes an Everett Police Sergeant spotted a person matching the description of the suspect near 23rd and McDougall. About the same time a person with blood on his face drove up to the north Everett Police precinct and said he’d been carjacked and hit with some type of pistol. He had a non life-threatening injury.

An Everett patrol officer took him to where the suspect had been stopped and the victim made a positive identification. The victim told officers he was at his car at the Outlet Mall in Tulalip when the suspect jumped into his car, displayed a gun and forced him to drive to Everett. In the area of Garfield Park there was some type of altercation and the suspect assaulted the victim and ran from the car. The victim then drove to the Everett Police Department north precinct to report the carjacking.

After an interview with Everett Police detectives the suspect is expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of carjacking and assault. He’ll likely make his first court appearance tomorrow afternoon.
