It has been quite a journey for Jessica Jordon, owner of Mari J’s…“I first applied in December of 2013,” said Jessica. The doors however didn’t open until July 31st 2015. Mari J’s was the fourth of five retail marijuana stores authorized inside the Everett City limits. Now even though earlier this year the State of Washington says there can be five more stores in Everett, the city council has voted to cap the number at the current five.
MyEverettNews.com tried to get more than just a word with Jordan but she was super busy today working the anniversary so we’ll do a follow up interview to see what the first year has been like and what the future holds as medical marijuana may soon be added to the store’s offerings.
As far as today’s celebration there are all kinds of events happening until 8:00 PM including food, an auction featuring jewelry, artwork, a guitar, show and sporting tickets and many more items with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. There are factory reps, vendors and experts on hand to answer questions about all kinds of marijuana products. There’s also live music. The event runs until 8:00 PM at 9506 19th Ave. SE in the Eastmont neighborhood of Everett.
