Editor’s Update 4:20 PM: Everett Police say the driver of the truck was a 32-year-old woman who had taken it around 9:30 AM in the Getchell area near Lake Stevens. Police in at least three cities are comparing notes and a woman faces multiple charges after a bizarre chain of events Sunday morning.

Details are not complete but it apparently started around 9:40 AM in Lake Stevens when a blue and white Chevy pickup truck ran from a Sheriff’s deputy there. Due to the way the truck was being operated the deputy discontinued the chase.

A few minutes later the truck was spotted by Marysville Police going southbound in the northbound lanes of I-5. Marysville Police did not chase the truck due to the danger.

Shortly after 10:00 AM an Everett Police officer spotted the truck coming off I-5 onto Everett Mall Way at a high rate of speed westbound. The truck blew past the Everett patrol car which did not give chase.

A few seconds later the officer reported seeing what appeared to be a crash.

At 3rd SE and Everett Mall Way the truck caused a multi-vehicle wreck involving at least two cars and a hotel shuttle van. The woman driving the truck jumped out ran east down 3rd SE.

She reportedly told one bystander to not follow her as she had a knife. The woman then ran into the woods on the east side of 3rd SE.

A K-9 unit was brought in and the woman was found hiding in the woods. A knife was recovered.

The woman was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center to be checked out and is expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail later on multiple charges.

Everett Mall Way was shut down in both directions between Intercity and 5th SE for the investigation.

While shaken up, there were no serious injuries reported by the other people hit by the truck. Here are some MyEverettNews.com photos from the scene.

Everett Mall Way is expected to re-open by 12:30 PM.

Another candidate for low barrier housing.

  2. Eleanore Says:

Her bail should be way higher

    • Mike N Says:

$28K is probably based on other warrants. Bail on this wreck will be set at the probably cause hearing.

  3. Mark Warren Says:

Who pays to fix all of the other cars involved in the crash?

Will it just fall to the individual owners? So their insurance rates will skyrocket?
Even tho its not their fault?

    • SSM Says:

Unless she has insurance (and I’m going to take a wild guess and say she doesn’t), then I understand that’s how it works–the owners of the other cars must may for their own damages.

I might be mistaken, though. Also, even if she does have insurance, I wonder if her insurance would balk at paying since it can be argued that she willfully caused the wreck, and they only cover “accidents.” In that case, I imagine the owners of the other cars would have a fight on their hands.

Any insurance folks here who can enlighten us?

      • Michael Jones Says:

Of course she doesn’t have insurance, she stole the truck! So unless the owners of the other vehicles have full coverage and uninsured motorist? They are S.O.L. Full coverage for an older vehicle such as that pickup rarely makes financial sense. Bet he is a hard working guy, that did his own work on that truck, of course she doesn’t care one bit about that, only thing upsetting her is that she was caught.

Shame about the truck; someone obviously took great pride in it.

At least there were no serious injuries.

This was a white Trump supporter!!!! I think she is friends with Bourn & his Anon buddy!!!!

  6. Bourne Says:

I zoomed in on the photo of the perp. Did she fall into a bucket of waste oil? Grab a shower for crying out loud.

  7. Mike N Says:

So three police agencies had a chance to stop her, but did not give chase. And she wrecked and caused injuries and mayhem anyway. Well, that must satisfy the “don’t chase” crowd.

    • Krysten Says:

I was thinking the same exact thing. I wonder who is going to file a law suit now, rolls her eyes. Least all are okay.

    • Anon Says:

In many cases it’s safer for the public for the police to not give chase.

  8. Bourne Says:

She’ll be out to crash again before the weekend is over.

  9. Eleanore Says:

What a dipsh!t glad they caught her!!
