A man was taken to Harborview Hospital in critical condition following a house fire this afternoon north of downtown Everett.

The fire was reported in a house in the 2500 block of Wetmore.

Flames and smoke were pouring from the upper story when Everett Fire crews arrived around 12 Noon.

There were multiple adults and small children in the house at the time of the fire. All escaped but one man was burned.

Firefighters were able to get a fast knockdown and limit the fire to the upper floor. The Red Cross is expected to help the family find a place to stay.

No word yet on the cause or a damage estimate.
