Affordable Housing 101 presentation to look at demographics, income levels and potential strategies.

The Everett Planning Commission will hear Affordable Housing 101 from the Alliance for Housing Availability tonight. The presentation will focus not only on low barrier housing but the full range of housing needs in Everett.

Currently the vacancy rate in Everett is hovering around 2-3 percent so future housing options will be an important part of the discussion.

The meeting starts at 6:30 PM in the Everett City Council Chambers at 3002 Wetmore. You can also see it streaming live on the City of Everett’s website. Plus on Everett TV, Comcast channel 21 and Frontier channel 29. A video of the presentation will also be made available on the City’s YouTube channel.

The planning commission will also hold a public hearing to consider changes to impact fees. They would allow impact fees to be deferred for new single-family development as required by the 2015 state legislature. There’s also a proposal to exempt up to 80% of impact fees for qualified low-income housing projects.
