Everett Police Chief Misquoted

misquote

My Everett News Publisher Leland Dart would like to apologize for the error. Now to remove the egg from my face.

I would like to issue a public apology to Everett Police Chief Dan Templeman after I misquoted him in an article yesterday regarding a letter Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson wrote to New World Systems.

After the Everett City Council meeting I asked Chief Templeman about issues the police department may have been having with New World Systems and quoted him as saying, “To my knowledge I’m not aware of software issues that have led to problems dispatching officers to calls.”

That is a misquote on my part.

The proper words used by Chief Templeman were…“I have not been made aware of any software related dispatch issues that have jeopardized public safety or caused any life-safety related issues.”

I have made corrections and included an apology with the original article. I apologize to Chief Templeman for the mis-quote and take full responsibility for the error. I will do my best to make sure it does not happen again.
