A medic unit took the boy to Providence Regional Medical Center.

Tense moments after a child was spotted at the bottom of the pool at the Arterra Apartments at 711 West Casino Road this afternoon.

Everett Police Sergeant Maryjane Hacker tells MyEverettNews.com it appears the child who is 9 years old, and just shy of his 10th birthday, came home as usual from Horizon Elementary School.

Police determined he put his backpack inside his apartment and went out. How long the child was out of the apartment is not known.

Around five o’clock someone spotted the boy at the bottom of the pool.

A maintenance worker jumped into the pool and brought the boy up from the bottom. A second worker began chest compressions until medic units and firefighters from the Everett Fire Department took over.

Crews worked on the boy for quite a while in front of a concerned crowd. They then transported the child to Providence Regional Medical Center.

Sgt. Hacker tells MyEverettNews.com at last word the boy had a pulse and was on a ventilator but had no further information.

Police were still trying to determine if anyone was with the boy at the pool and how long he may have been at the bottom before being spotted.

It’s a sad reminder that as the weather heats up, kids have to be watched at all times near any type of water.
