Everett Cocoon House will be getting much needed repairs thanks to generous Boeing employees…
The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound (ECF) Board of Trustees has announced approval of $25,000 to Cocoon House non-profit in Everett. The approved funds will be used for much needed renovations of Cocoon House’s teen emergency shelter in Everett, which was the first site Cocoon House opened nearly 25 years ago.
“We are very grateful to the Employees Community Fund for their support of Cocoon House and the youth we serve,” said Cassie Franklin, CEO of Cocoon House. “Our emergency home is over 100 years old and renovations are needed to make sure Snohomish County’s young people have comfort and stability.”
Renovations will include a bathroom remodel, a water heater replacement, heating upgrades, and other updates needed for the aging home. The emergency shelter serves at-risk and homeless teens ages 13-17 and provides case management, educational support, and family reconciliation services.
“The members of the Employees Community Fund are, as ever, deeply impressed by the capacity of Cocoon House to identify, care for, and develop the vulnerable youth of Snohomish County,” said Bob Malone, ECF Trustee. “We are pleased to help Cocoon House maintain a warm and loving temporary home for these youth.”
Renovations at the site are set to begin this week. The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound is an employee-owned and managed charitable giving program. Since 1951, generous Boeing employees have contributed over $600 million to Puget Sound nonprofits. Over the years ECF has funded $223,630 in direct grants to Cocoon House.
