Squatters Escape House Fire South of Everett
The house was surrounded by huge blackberry bushes and overgrown shrubbery.
A tough attack for firefighters.
Squatters are suspected of being responsible for a fire that destroyed an abandoned house early Monday morning. At 3:00 AM crews were called to a house on 107th street SW just south of the Everett city limits. When the first fire crews from District 1 and Everett Fire arrived the house was fully involved. The house was completely surrounded by overgrown shrubbery and blackberries. Low hanging power lines prevented use of a ladder truck complicating firefighting efforts. There were reportedly two people squatting in the house. They got out safely and were interviewed by Snohomish County fire investigators. Here are some MyEverettNews.com photos from the scene.
