No kids were hurt but a reportedly intoxicated bicycle rider hit an Everett School District bus carrying members of the Everett High School Track team this afternoon. Here’s what we know from Aaron Snell at Everett Police…

The Traffic Safety Unit is investigating a collision between a bicyclist and a school bus.

Just after 2:15 p.m. today, officers responded to a collision between a bicyclist and a school bus in the intersection of 35th St and Wetmore Ave. Arriving officers determined that an adult male, 52 years-old, on a bicycle was riding eastbound on 35th St and failed to stop at the intersection before hitting a southbound school bus on Wetmore Ave.

The bicyclist was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in critical condition. It is believed that alcohol was a factor in his actions.

None of the 25 high school students aboard the school bus were injured. Officers worked with the Everett School District to provide alternative transportation.

Detectives with the Traffic Safety Unit responded to the incident. The intersection was closed for the investigation but is now open to traffic.
