It doesn’t take much to start a brush fire.

The Everett Fire Department has responded to multiple brush fire calls this weekend.

In spite of a really rainy winter it doesn’t take much to start a fire.

The brush fires have been minor so far and near high vehicle traffic areas.

Think back to the number of fires we had last summer and that we may already set records for mid-April sunshine over the next couple of days, and a reminder to stay safe and not toss any burning material out of your vehicle may be in order.

The new Battalion Chief rigs are on the street. Shiny red replaces the formerly white command SUVs.

Speaking of the Everett Fire Department, shortly after 9 o’clock this morning they were dispatched to a report of the smell of natural gas at the Staples store on Evergreen Way. Crews evacuated Staples and the Dollar store next door. No leak was discovered and it didn’t take long for the all-clear so the stores could re-open.
