Just got this announcement in from Snohomish PUD…
At today’s Board meeting, the PUDCommission approved a plan to transition to monthly meter readings. While bill estimates have worked for most PUD customers, estimated bills have created hardships for some. We heard you! As a public, not-for-profit utility, we work to be responsive to the needs of our customers and provide resources that meet their needs. Monthly meter reads are a significant change, however, that will take time and resources to fully implement. The change is targeted to begin in fall of this year. Until that time, we remain committed to addressing any customer’s billing issue individually. While monthly meter reads provide more frequent billing information for customers, customers with electrically heated homes in the Northwest will still experience higher winter bills compared to milder summer and fall months. PUD conservation programs can help customers keep bills in check, with incentives and discounts on home weatherization, heat pumps, efficient lighting and more. More info about this coming change and answers to FAQs: snopud.com/changes. Thank you for your patience and interest in your PUD.
