The crash happened well south of the marked crosswalk where Evergreen Way is 7 lanes.

A man was in the street outside of the crosswalk south of 4th Ave. West and Evergreen Way Sunday night when he was struck by a Toyota.

Shortly after 10:30 PM the Toyota was going northbound on Evergreen Way when the man, who was wearing dark clothing. stepped in front of the car. He hit the front windshield and landed in the street.

The woman driving the car stopped and was cooperating with Everett patrol officers. Everett Medics and firefighters from station 6 treated the man and then transported him to Providence Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the car was shaken up but not injured. Everett Police say she did not appear to be impaired. No word if the pedestrian was impaired or not but the preliminary investigation showed he appeared to be a good 20 feet south of the marked crosswalk when he stepped into the seven lane road.

It was the second serious injury car-pedestrian crash on Evergreen Way this weekend where a person was hit trying to cross outside of a marked crosswalk.

I was there, he fell into my lane where I had to stop so I wouldn’t hit him, he smelled of alcohol until he smelled of blood. I sat with him until paramedics showed up praying he’d be ok. I wouldn’t call him an idiot or a moron. No one knows his story. Maybe he lost someone and just didn’t care anymore or hurts after trying to serve for our country. Who knows. Maybe judging a situation that we know little about isn’t the right answer.

The Cops? Last week I saw a red light runner speed past an Everett police officer at 3rd Avenue South East and Everett Mall Way in broad daylight. The cop did nothing. Two weeks ago I saw a man cross Everett Mall Way from Bobakhan Toy Store to Starbucks also in broad daylight. He stopped in the middle of the road just in time for an Everett police car to pass by. The cop did nothing. In both instances the cops did not attempt to stop and ticket the idiots crossing.

Yeah I guess you’re right, it’s futile to think the cops would ticket jaywalkers

20 ft from a marked crosswalk this was his own fault!! Sick of the moron’s jaywalking from Evergreen Way to N. Broadway the cops need to stop these dolts

  4. Bourne Says:

    Was the Jay Walker impaired?

    • Robert Says:

Who knows if the jaywalker was impaired… what I do know is that he’s an idiot trying to cross a 7 lane road where the speed limit is 50 mph. Might as well run across the freeway… atleast you have less lanes there.

I hope they consider the reports of pedestrians stepping into traffic to draw cars to a stop in robbery attempts, the descriptions of the person who would step out is the same. After stopping the car, accomplices have attempted to pry vehicle doors open with the driver inside.
