Big Change Coming To Everett Fire Department Leadership

Over the next 30 days there will be several changes in the make-up of the upper ranks of the Everett Fire Department. Here’s what has learned so far…

Everett Fire Dept. Current Fire Marshal Rick Robinson will become the Assistant Chief of Administration. He will serve as the Chief of Staff for Fire Chief Murray Gordon and be second in command of the Everett Fire Department.

Current Assistant Fire Marshal Eric Hicks is being promoted to Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal.

Current Firefighter/Paramedic Randy Utt will be promoted to Assistant Chief of Operations.

Current Division Chief of EMS Tim Key will be promoted to Assistant Chief of Emergency Medical Services.

Department of Emergency Management Chief Dave DeHaan is retiring in March and interviews will be conducted for his replacement around the end of February. Currently Brent Stainer is serving as Interim Director. That position is expected to be filled March 20th.

Promotional interviews to fill positions being vacated by these promotions will happen this spring.

More firefighters will be joining the Everett Fire Department in 2016. Everett Fire will be hiring two experienced firefighters this spring who are expected to be assigned to a platoon in May.

The department will also be taking 8 new-hire firefighters off the current eligibility list and sending all 8 to the Washington State Fire Academy at the end of April.

City of Everett Public Information Director Meghan Pembroke tells the leadership changes have been in the works for the last several months and were announced to Everett Fire Department crews January 6th.
