The man was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

A 48-year-old man was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett after being struck while crossing Evergreen Way Sunday night.

The crash occurred about 8:45 in the 5700 block of Evergreen Way and Everett Police closed Evergreen between Pecks and 52nd street for about 45 minutes while they investigated.

The man hit was carrying several bags of groceries and was crossing the street mid-block and not in the crosswalk when he was struck.

Police have the person who was driving the vehicle that struck the 48-year-old and that driver is cooperating.

Everett Police Spokesman Aaron Snell tells MyEverettNews.com the victim was in very serious condition. No word if drugs or alcohol were involved as the investigation is just getting underway.
