My Everett News

We appreciate our readers and advertisers and need your support. Will you chip in?

Well since our recent fingers crossed investment in a few lottery tickets did not return our desired result, MyEverettNews.com is continuing with our quarterly fundraisers.

First if you’ve already given this year, thank you.

If you haven’t, please consider the simple gift of 3 cents a day for breaking news about Everett you can’t find anywhere else.

That works out to just $10.00 a year.

MyEverettNews.com is privately owned and operated. We are self-funded and rely on support from advertisers in the Everett area, some Google advertising revenue and donations from our readers who support what we’re trying to do.

MyEverettNews.com will always be free. There are no pay walls and we don’t believe in filling our website with big drop down ads that cover up the content or cause you to wait to see the story you selected.

MyEverettNews.com can be seen on smartphones, tablets, computers and most devices.

Firefighter reviving dogs

This shot of an Everett Firefighter giving oxygen to two dogs is one of our most popular photos.

MyEverettNews.com is a quick read where we try to add photos when possible to give you a better sense of what is happening along with links to learn more.

MyEverettNews.com is about Everett. We try to keep our attention on Everett and not be all things to all people. Our primary focus is on breaking news, followed by Everett government decisions and things in Everett we think you’d find interesting.

MyEverettNews.com tries to report as close to real time as possible. We offer updates to our stories as they become available. We also link our stories to our Twitter and Facebook Feeds.

So why are we asking for donations in this manner?

Smoke and flames could be seen from quite a distance away.

There’s a fair amount of cost in doing what we do. Obviously there’s the cost of the website itself including the internet access, hosting and web design. In addition is our office space, gas and vehicle maintenance to get to the incidents we cover 24 hours a day and the equipment we’re using including multiple emergency radio scanners, computers and cameras. It’s also a 7 days a week, 24 hours a day effort and in order to provide that singular focus we need to get in enough money to cover our living expenses. (something that has not yet happened) Nobody’s going to get rich doing a breaking news website about Everett but as someone who was born and raised in Everett and have spent most of my life here it’s an effort I’m proud of and that’s why I’m making a direct appeal to you for support.

Hoyt shots call

While I hate statistics some people love them so here are a few to consider. According to Google Analytics we get more than 27,000 unique readers each month and more than 84,000 page views. More than 33% of our traffic comes from Everett followed by Seattle, Marysville, Lynnwood and Kirkland. 53% of our readers are women with 68% of our readership between 25-54 years old. As I said earlier I hate statistics because you can’t really compare us to anything else. We cover breaking news in Everett, Washington. If you like what we do, please consider chipping in 3 cents a day for a year.

Can’t make a financial contribution? That’s okay. You can still help by visiting our sponsors, telling them you saw their ad on MyEverettnews.com and getting business owners you know to support what we do. Also please follow us on Facebook and Twitter and share stories you find of interest with others.

This plea has gone on too long and if you’ve read this far, I thank you for your support. If you’d like to talk with me directly you can click on the “contact us” button at the top of this page for the best way to reach me.

Sincerely,

Leland Dart
