Boeing freeway repairs

WSDOT will replace more than 7,700 feet of existing guardrail with new, taller guardrail on the outer edges of the highway and concrete barrier in the center roadway of SR 526 in Everett.

Another reminder that the Washington State Department of Transportation will be closing lanes on SR526 (Boeing Freeway) Saturday afternoon through early Monday morning. Here’s what you need to know from the folks at WSDOT…

Everett drivers should be prepared for single-lane closures in each direction of State Route 526/Boeing Freeway starting Saturday afternoon, Oct. 3 and running through Monday morning.

From 3:00 p.m. Saturday to 4:30 a.m. Monday, a lane in each direction of SR 526 will be closed between Casino Road and 5th Avenue West. During the closure, contractors working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will pave the center roadway and install new concrete barrier as part of the Northwest Region Basic Safety Project. This will replace the existing guardrail in the center roadway and replace it 4,750 feet of concrete barrier. WSDOT has also been replacing 2,950 feet of guardrail on the outer roadways in both directions of the highway. This work will improve safety for drivers between Everett and Mukilteo.

During this weekend’s work, drivers should be prepared for added traffic congestion on SR 526 and should add extra time to their trips. Travelers may also encounter periodic ramp closures and detours during the weekend work.

In the Seattle area, drivers can get real-time traffic information on their phone with the WSDOT traffic app, by tracking the WSDOT traffic Twitter feed, and get advanced information from the What’s Happening Now page.
