During the summer School Resource Officers conduct a Junior Police Academy at Eisenhower Middle School.

Tomorrow night the Everett City Council is expected to approve a three year agreement to continue providing funding for 25 percent of the salary for School Resource Officers at Cascade and Everett High Schools.

The other 75 percent will come from the Everett School District. That accounts for more than $668,000.00 over three years and continues putting Everett Police Officers in the two Everett city high schools through June 2018.

The City of Everett already pays the full salaries for School Resource Officers in four middle schools, North, Evergreen, Eisenhower and Explorer along with a Youth Services Sergeant to oversee and coordinate the program between the Everett School District and Everett Police.

“We’re fortunate to have such a great partnership with Everett Schools,” said Sgt. Tim Reeves. “We really appreciate the District’s financial support for the High School Resource Officer positions.”

Everett Police first began with two Resource Officers assigned to the Everett School District back in 1996.
