Police spent hours Monday putting together the case against the two sex trafficking suspects.

On Monday, Everett Police investigators arrested two brothers for suspicion of human trafficking.

In response to citizen complaints, police were conducting undercover anti-prostitution operations on Evergreen Way Monday morning in south Everett. After confirming prostitution activity, Everett Police uncovered an operation where two brothers, aged 22 and 25, brought two women directly to Everett from Las Vegas. They’d been working the two women on the streets of Everett since late last week.

According to court papers obtained by MyEverettNews.com the men rented rooms at four different motels in Everett over four days. The probable cause statement says the women worked up and down Evergreen Way and also had advertisements posted on Backpage.com. The women reportedly turned over all of the money they made having sex with customers in Everett to the two brothers. After working on the case all day Monday detectives booked one woman in jail for prostitution loitering and two men for Human Trafficking in the second degree. The two brothers have addresses listed in Los Angeles. They made an initial court appearance today and a judge set bail at $100,000.00 each. Formal charges are expected to be filed by Thursday.

We asked Everett Police if it was unusual for women to be brought to Everett to work as prostitutes from somewhere like Las Vegas and Everett Police Spokesman Aaron Snell told us that people are transported by sex traffickers all up and down the west coast and Everett is no more or less likely a destination than Seattle, Renton, Tukwila or Portland. Snell says commercial areas with many motels are often sought out by traffickers so they can move easily from place to place without attracting too much attention. Human trafficking is a felony and Snell added that crossing State lines to commit these types of crimes can lead to Federal involvement. The investigation is ongoing.
