Overall the 4th of July weekend in Everett was fairly safe with a great parade in downtown Everett, a fun party at Legion Park and a fantastic fireworks display over Port Gardner Bay Saturday night.

Everett Firefighters responded to a near drowning at Silver Lake, numerous brush fires, some garbage bin fires and one structure fire that destroyed a garage but firefighters kept from spreading into the house. We asked Everett Fire Marshal Rick Robinson about the weekend. “While we did not get 100% compliance, our citizens were very mindful of the hazards and almost all acted accordingly,” said Robinson. “We need to emphasize that while we are past the 4th of July, the fire danger remains very high, and all of us must be extra vigilant about preventing fires. Keep Everett green!”

shooting arrest

Everett Police responded to more than a hundred fireworks complaints and mostly issued warnings with a few citations and confiscations. The Pizza Hut at 49th and Evergreen Way was robbed by a man with a gun Saturday night around 10:00pm. A man reported a gunshot wound to his leg but that incident actually happened in south Snohomish County and a domestic violence incident in north Everett involved a man shooting a woman with the arrest made by Everett Police Chief Dan Templeman.

There were no major fireworks injuries, no major structure fires and thousands of people got in and out of the Everett waterfront and downtown Everett with little to no problem.
