Saturday Morning Power Outage In South Everett Affects 5000

No word yet if a squirrel was involved in the power outage at the substation.

A PUD lineman works on restoring power Saturday morning in south Everett.
A failure at a south Everett substation left 5000 people without power Saturday morning. Neil Neroutsos with Snohomish PUD tells MyEverettNews.com that power in the Olivia Park area went out around 6:00am and most customers were restored by 8:00am. Crews first rerouted power for a quick restoration and then began working on whatever caused the problem at the substation. We ask every time there is a substation failure…
“Was this caused by a squirrel?” At this time that is unknown.
By the way, as power was out to many major intersections such as Evergreen and 4th Avenue West, Everett Mall Way and Evergreen Way, 4th Avenue West and Everett Mall Way, we saw a lot of near misses with people not stopping at the intersection. A friendly reminder…If the traffic light is out, the whole intersection becomes a 4-way stop.
power out, power outage
