In case you happened to see a lot of police activity in the general area of Mariner High School south of Everett last night here’s what was going on per Shari Ireton of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force, Snohomish Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, Everett Police Department Pro-Act Team, and Federal Bureau of Investigation-led Seattle Safe Streets Task Force captured a California murder suspect last night without incident.

Khalil Phanor, an 18-year-old man from San Leandro, California, had been at-large after being charged with the murder of a 36 year-old wheelchair-bound man in Berkeley last December.  Phanor and another man, Carl Young, were charged with murder, robbery, and assault four days ago.  According to the Berkeley Police Department, Young was located in San Leandro and arrested.

Phanor was located at a southeast Everett apartment complex by the task forces last night around 8:30. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for being a fugitive from justice from another state.
