If you need to report a power outage, the number to call the PUD is 425-783-1001. The PUD will not give you an estimated time when your power will be turned back on or how soon a crew will be in your neighborhood.
The PUD also posts major outage information on its Facebook page as well as their Twitter Feed.
Here is a great list of frequently asked questions and answers regarding power outages in our area.
Here are a few more tips…
Keep track of the storm as it develops.
If there is an outage:
Turn off lights and appliances.
Leave one light switch on so you’ll know when your power is back on.
Use flashlights instead of candles.
Keep your freezer and refrigerator doors closed and open them only when it is necessary.
Never use a gas range, indoor cooker, charcoal or gas barbeque for heating.
Close curtains and drapes to keep the heat in.
Wear warm clothes in layers.
If the indoor temperature drops to 55 degrees or below, open your faucets so there is a constant drip to prevent pipes from freezing.
