Nice news out of Everett Community College this afternoon…

Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Mike Deller to Everett Community College’s Board of Trustees.

Deller, who graduated from EvCC in 1971, is a longtime supporter of the college. He’s the second of three generations connected to EvCC. His father, Bill Deller, was the dean of students at the college and later established the EvCC Foundation.

“Dad started the foundation in 1984 and when I became president of the foundation, it meant a lot to me,” said Mike Deller, who served as a foundation board member for five years.

Prior to retirement, Mike Deller’s career included real estate, working as district director for then-U.S. Representative Maria Cantwell, CEO of the Port of Everett, president of EverTrust Bank and the Bank of Everett, and as the Washington state director for the Trust for Public Land.

He has been involved in numerous Everett-area community organizations, but considers his involvement as chairman of the EvCC Foundation very important.

“I spent a lot of my career trying to help build a better community. You evaluate the assets in a community, from industry to parks and recreation to education. EvCC is not only our educational facility, it’s a great community asset,” he said.

After graduating from EvCC, Mike Deller earned a bachelor of arts degree from Central Washington University then a Masters of Public Administration from Seattle University.

Mike Deller, of Mukilteo, replaces trustee Janet Kusler. His term is from November 2014 to September 2016.

EvCC’s Board of Trustees meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the college’s Henry M. Jackson Center.
