Stuff Bus

Congressman Larsen passes out a list of items most in demand to help Volunteers of America during the Stuff the Bus event.

Congressman Rick Larsen spent some time today outside the Silver Lake Fred Meyer store in south Everett encouraging people to help stuff an Everett Transit bus with new toys and non-perishable food for Volunteers of America. The annual toy and food drive has been going on for years in Everett’s Silver neighborhood with the help of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 883 and Everett Transit. The Everett Transit bus is parked in front of Fred Meyer (12906 Bothell-Everett Hwy). The event kicked off last weekend and continues for two more weekends. Collection times are 10am – 4pm December 6th, 7th, 13th & 14th. Last year’s donations set a new record and included over 5,400 pounds of food, more than $21,000 worth of toys, and more than $1,100 in cash donations. They’re hoping to top that this year and again all proceeds benefit local families through Volunteers of America Western Washington.
