Everett marijuana store

This is the first and so far only licensed retail marijuana store in Everett, WA. It opens at 2:00pm Monday.

Earlier this month we first told you about “High Society” the first retail marijuana store in Everett, WA to receive a license from the Washington State Liquor Control Board. At that time the store planned on being open around the 15th of the month. In talking with Neary, the owner of High Society, she said getting a predictable supply of approved marijuana had been holding up the opening. “I didn’t want to open for just a day and have to close and wait for more product,” said Neary. “I wanted to wait and make sure we would be able to be open on a consistent basis for our customers and also the employees we’ve hired.”

I asked if there was anything people should know about buying marijuana in a retail store. “You have to be 21 years old to be inside the store, whether or not you’re buying marijuana,” Neary said. While Washington State law allows those under 21 to be inside a liquor store when accompanied by an adult, the same is not the case for retail marijuana stores. Other facets of legal marijuana use are similar to legal alcohol use. Just like you can’t buy a bottle of gin and then open it up and start drinking it in public, the same goes for marijuana. Initiative 502 states that it is unlawful to open/consume a package of marijuana or marijuana infused product in view of the general public.

After Monday’s opening at 2:00pm, the store will have regular hours of Monday – Saturday 10:00am – 8:00pm and Sunday from Noon – 7:00pm. The address is 1824 Broadway in north Everett.
