Everett’s Badges for Baseball & Softball is back!
Everett, WA: The Everett Police Department, in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Snohomish County and the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, is proud to announce our 2014 Badges for Baseball & Softball camp.
Badges for Baseball was created in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice as a juvenile crime prevention initiative. It’s a simple concept: Pair cops and kids to play baseball and softball. The goal is to break down barriers between law enforcement and youth in communities across the country using baseball as the hook. Law enforcement officers become coaches and teach important lessons about teamwork, communication, respect and leadership. These traits are valuable both on and off the field – and the results have been remarkable.
Camp begins Tuesday, August 5th and runs through Friday, August 9th at Kasch Park in Everett (8811 Airport Road). Over 230 youth registered for the camp – of which 80 girls are registered for softball. The camp opens at 9:00 a.m. each day and players will be taught the Healthy Choices-Healthy Children program by Everett Police officers.
The camp is at maximum capacity and cannot accept additional players.
