Man Climbs 3 Flights of Stairs Carrying Bicycle, Sets Fire at Everett Medical Center

Strange case of arson in central Everett tonight. About 6pm, Everett Firefighters were called to a medical building at the corner of 43rd and Colby to a report of a fire in a restroom. According to the Everett Fire Department, a man carrying a bicycle on his back, walked into the medical dental building and climbed three flights of interior stairs. He then went into a men’s room on that third floor and locked the door. When staff tried to talk with the man he refused to come out of the restroom. After a short period of time the man quickly ran out of the restroom and down the stairs with his bicycle. The staff smelled smoke and saw the restroom was on fire. The fire was contained to the restroom and quickly extinguished. Everett Fire Marshal Rick Robinson said the damage to the restroom was likely a few thousand dollars. The search is still on for the stair climbing-bicycle carrying suspect.
