Everett’s planning commission and staff have invited south Everett residents to participate in what they are calling an interactive workshop at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Evergreen Middle School, 7621 Beverly Lane.
The city is currently updating Everett’s comprehensive plan to extend the planning horizon from 2025 to 2035. The workshop is a chance for citizens to share what they envision for Everett’s future and to provide input about important community characteristics and assets, and how and where growth should occur.
“We’ve collected a lot of feedback through our website and other workshops, but we want to make sure that south Everett residents and business owners have a chance to share their perspective,” said Allan Giffen, planning director. “We’re looking for the community’s input about what kind of city Everett should be in 20 years.”
Questions to think about:
• What is your vision for Everett in 2035?
• What improvements are important to you?
• What areas would you like to see grow?
• What features in your neighborhood contribute to the community?
This workshop is specifically focused on what works and what is needed in south Everett. The workshop will provide opportunity for discussion and a chance to participate in hands-on exercises to help refine a vision for Everett. In the past, citizen input has helped shape a variety of capital improvements, code changes, environmental initiatives and special planning study areas, such as the Riverfront redevelopment and the central waterfront.
