Interesting idea from Snohomish PUD…

Snohomish PUD Planet Power

Click to find out more about Planet Power

Snohomish County PUD’s Planet Power program offers an easy way for customers to support renewable energy projects right here in Snohomish County.  And now there’s an added perk.  New participants and existing customers who increase their contribution (by at least $3 a month) will receive 12-oz of ground “Twilight Blend” coffee from a renowned local roaster, Velton’s Coffee.

Fund local solar energy for as little as $3 a month!

Customers who support the Planet Power program have funded 25 local solar energy projects. This includes 15 projects at community schools where students are introduced to and inspired by the power of clean energy. Customers can join with a one-time donation or for as little as $3 a month. Every dollar contributed goes directly to operate the program, educate the community and increase the level of energy produced by renewable sources.

Customers can sign up for Planet Power by filling out the card in their bill, by calling 425-783-1700, or online at www.snopud.com/planetpower

Solar Booming Among PUD Customers

Another PUD program, Solar Express, helped 120 home and business owners install solar panels in 2013 alone – or one new project every three days! There are now more than 400 PUD customers generating their own clean energy through the program.

Residential customers can qualify for up to $2,500 in incentives for solar photovoltaic systems, and commercial customers can qualify for up to $10,000. All customers with electric water heaters can qualify for a $500 incentive for solar hot water systems. Customers may also qualify for additional federal tax credits and state production incentives.

For more information about Solar Express, call 425-783-1700 or visit the PUD website at www.snopud.com/solarexpress.
