Another story from the Everett Police Blotter Facebook page that proves you’re never too smart to avoid jail…

Don’t cross against the light in front of an Everett police officer.

An officer is stopped at a red light. The walk signal for pedestrians is also red (Don’t Walk) and three males are standing on the corner. One male walks across the street, against the pedestrian light, in front of the officer’s car and looks back at his friends and laughs. The officer initiates a stop and contacts the male who states he walks against red light all the time and has never been stopped. Further, the male states he is from CA where it is OK. The officer reminds the male he is in WA and here the action is a pedestrian violation. When the male provides identification upon request, the police database indicates he has an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The male is arrested. The male doesn’t know his physical address, but knows he lives just blocks away. The officer agrees to drive by the house to get the address. While driving, the officer also agrees to inform the male’s mother of the arrest before he is booked into county jail on the warrant.
