South Everett Rotary Sponsoring Flu Shots For Free Ice Skating

Flu in Everett

Get a flu shot and a free ice skating session this Saturday in downtown Everett.

Once again this year the South Everett-Mukilteo Rotary Club is organizing a Free Skate and Flu Shot event at Comcast Arena at Everett.

Uninsured and low-income adults are welcome to no-cost vaccinations for flu and whooping-cough from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett, Wash. This clinic is sponsored by the South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary Club and local Walgreens pharmacies, and staffed by the Snohomish Health District and Medical Reserve Corps. Adults who receive shots may rent skates for free and skate for free with their children in the adjacent ice rink.

As we told you on January 2nd, we’re just getting into the height of flu season. Today the Snohomish Health District announced Snohomish County’s first confirmed flu death of the 2013-14 season. A Bothell, Washington woman in her thirties died from influenza complications on January 4. She had underlying health conditions, and passed away in a King County hospital.

There is also a Free Flu shot event 10 a.m. to noon this Friday, Jan. 10 at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., Everett, Wash. It is open to uninsured and low-income adults.
