January 3, 2014

Everett

It has just been announced at iam 751 that the 777x vote was yes by 51%

Here is Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson’s Statement…
I am encouraged that the Machinists today approved the contract extension that will keep the 777X in Washington state. This was a significant and farsighted vote, and I am deeply appreciative of the serious consideration and thought that Machinists and their families took in coming to this conclusion. Today’s positive vote guarantees job security not just for today’s workers, but for future generations.

With their vote today, Boeing workers preserved Washington’s place at the forefront of the aerospace industry. We are honored to be the home of the best airplane builders in the world, and we look forward to this exciting new chapter for Boeing and Everett.

Here is a statement from the Port of Everett…

“We want to express our gratitude and appreciation to the IAM membership for approving this contract,” Port of Everett Executive Director John Mohr said. “Because of your vote, our talented workforce will continue to produce the highest quality aircraft in the industry. This yes vote also ensures that our workers will build the 777X wing, and in turn, be knowledgeable of the new aerospace technologies.”

Here is the statement from Congressman Rick Larsen…

Now that the state and union have delivered, it is time for Boeing to hold up its end of the bargain. Washington has shown that we stand behind a strong aerospace industry. Boeing should make the same commitment to our state.

“I am pleased the 777X will be made in Washington. It is time to move forward and start the next chapter in our state’s aerospace history.”
