Stuff a bus in Everett

Stuff a bus is at the Fred Meyer at Murphy’s Corner south of Silver Lake.

The annual Stuff a Bus charity drive benefitting local families returns today for its 10th consecutive year.

Stuff a Bus is sponsored by the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 883 (ATU 883) in partnership with Fred Meyer and Everett Transit.

“Stuff a Bus has become a fixture at the Murphy’s Corner Fred Meyer store each December,” said Steve Oss, president of ATU 883. “We hope the community will help make this our best and biggest year yet, so we can serve even more families and children this holiday season.”

The goal of the campaign is to completely fill a 35-foot Everett Transit bus with donations for local families. Beginning Saturday, Nov. 30, volunteers will be on hand to accept nonperishable food, household items, and new, nonviolent-themed toys at Fred Meyer, 12906 Bothell-Everett Highway.

The bus will be available for donations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday from Nov. 30 through Dec. 15.

Stuff a Bus proceeds benefit local families supported by Volunteers of America Western Washington. In 2012, the community donated nearly 5,000 pounds of food and approximately $20,000 in household items and toys.
