Potential Wind Storm Means Hewitt and Colby Will Remain Open This Weekend

Hewitt and Colby quadrangle

The City is repainting the “quadrangle” at Hewitt and Colby

If you’re headed to “Pink the Rink” or other events in downtown Everett this weekend you won’t have to detour around Hewitt and Colby. Today the city of Everett decided to hold off working on the quadrangle over the intersection due to a forecast for high winds. Here’s the official word…

This weekend’s full closure of the Hewitt/Colby intersection has been canceled due to current forecasts calling for winds of 35-45 mph. In order to keep workers safe and maintain the containment system, crews will not work on the metal structure above the intersection. Crews will complete minor work on sidewalks adjacent to the intersection, but Hewitt Avenue and Colby Avenue will remain open to traffic. The work has been rescheduled for the weekend of Nov. 8, weather permitting.
