Tier 1 – less than 2000 square feet
Tier 2 – 2000 to 10,000 square feet
Tier 3 – 10,000 to 30,000 square feet
The Everett City Council agreed with city staff recommendations to only allow the smallest level of production. City police, planning and legal departments reported they felt the Tier 1 producers are least likely to have significant odor impacts on the surrounding business community and appear unlikely to impact residential areas with a one thousand foot setback. The city says this limited approach will allow them to study the impact of marijuana production at the Tier 1 level in both Everett and other cities who have taken a similar approach before possibly expanding to higher tiers by the time the permanent regulations go into effect. The ordinance passed and the first marijuana licenses to be issued in Everett are expected sometime in December.
