Jim Langus will oversee the due diligence efforts of Saltchuk in buying the K-C site.
Jim Langus has been named Project Leader for Saltchuk’s due diligence efforts as the company evaluates the Kimberly-Clark property in Everett for purchase.
“We are fortunate to have Jim’s leadership and organizational skills working with our team and the stakeholders in Everett during this review process,” said Mark Tabbutt, Chairman of Saltchuk. “His experience lends itself perfectly to the role of maintaining important schedules while working with experts and our professional staff to help us evaluate this property for purchase.”
Langus’ background includes management as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Snohomish County PUD. Prior to that, he served as the executive for the City of Everett, responsible for managing much of the day-to-day operations for the city. Langus is known for his dedication to Everett, and his leadership and tireless energy working on key issues.
The purchase agreement signed with Kimberly-Clark in early October includes a four-month feasibility period providing Saltchuk time to gather and assess information on a number of significant and complex matters involving the 66-acre former mill site.
“My work during this period will include overseeing aspects of the feasibility process to meet Saltchuk’s timelines,” said Jim Langus. “They have hired reputable consultants to study and prepare information, including upland and waterway matters. We must have this information organized and available for the company to make a well-informed decision regarding the potential acquisition.”
In the coming months Saltchuk will evaluate a potential site plan and work with local, state and federal officials to determine the permits required to develop the property in a way that meets the company’s needs. Environmental clean up continues on the property as Kimberly-Clark works with the Department of Ecology to determine final remediation plans for the site.
