Everett Police have named the man arrested in the shooting of a Seattle man last night at the Sunrise Motor Inn behind Denny’s at 8400 Evergreen. The victim has not yet been identified. Here’s the press release from Aaron Snell of EPD…

The investigation into the fatal shooting continues. Detectives worked through the night to process the large crime scene at 8400 Evergreen Way to include the Denny’s parking lot and Sunrise Inn. Multiple search warrants were served at different locations within Snohomish County to collect evidence relevant to the case.

All but one of the people detained by Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies last night were interviewed and released by Everett detectives. Detectives identified and arrested the shooter, 37 year-old Heath E. Mitchell of Everett, and are booking him into Snohomish County Jail on related charges.

At this point, the investigation is ongoing but it is believed Mitchell rented a room at the Sunrise Inn and was selling narcotics from it. After the shooting incident, he fled and stashed a revolver in a dumpster in South Everett before he was detained.

No additional updates are expected today.
