Time to tune up your cowbells…
The Silvertips are set to open the 2013 WHL preseason this weekend, hosting five other teams for the tenth annual Holiday Inn Preseason Classic at Comcast Arena. The tournament features nine games from Friday to Sunday between all five US Division clubs plus a new entry: the Victoria Royals from the BC Division. Games start at 11:30 am, 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm each day, with the Silvertips playing the night game Friday vs. Victoria, Saturday vs. the Spokane Chiefs and Sunday vs. the Portland Winterhawks. Roster Update
37 of the nearly 80 players who reported for Silvertips training camp remain with the club as of today, including first-round bantam draft pick Tyson Jost (who arrived just in time for Sunday’s Green-Grey game) and Edmonton Oilers signee Jujhar Khaira (who has returned to practice with the team before departing for his NHL camp). A total of 20 forwards, 13 defensemen and four goaltenders are currently practicing with the club, with more players expected to be re-assigned before the ‘Tips take the ice for their preseason opener Friday night against Victoria.
Food Drive Continues
The Silvertips’ annual preseason food drive runs all weekend long during the Holiday Inn Preseason Classic. As you make your way to Comcast Arena to watch the Silvertips and the five other teams in action, we encourage you to bring non-perishable food items to drop off at the donation bins located throughout the concourse. All collected food goes to the Volunteers of America Everett Food Bank, which helps feed over 3,000 households in our community each month.
