4:52pm Update: Everett Fire Marshal Rick Robinson says the cause of the fires is not known, but failed brakes or bearings, or a dragging muffler from a vehicle could be the cause. Even with the heavy traffic at the time of the fires, no reports of anyone throwing combustibles from a vehicle have been received. Fire investigators are on the scene and beginning their work.
Everett Firefighters had to battle 3 separate fires alongside southbound I-5 near the 6100 block of Broadway shortly after 4:00pm. Everett Fire crews were on both Broadway and I-5 causing traffic on southbound I-5 in Everett to jam up and a corresponding look-e-loo back up on northbound I-5. No word yet on the cause of the fires. We’ll update when we get more information.Multiple Grass Fires Next to I-5 Cause Commuter Chaos
