A wild scene this afternoon in north Everett as police shut down Hoyt avenue between 13th and 16th between Colby and Grand after a suspect reportedly fired shots at police. According to early information provided by Everett Police Public Information Officer Aaron Snell, Marysville Police came upon a suspicious truck late Monday morning. The driver of the vehicle fled from Marysville Police across 529 into Everett. Marysville Police gave chase and were assisted by Everett Police, State Patrol and Snohomish County Sheriff’s officers. After a chase thru the streets of north Everett the driver crashed the truck into a parked car at 14th and Hoyt. He then fled and reportedly fired multiple shots at officers from a handgun. Officers flooded the area, locked down at least two schools and eventually took the man into custody. There were no apparent injuries and as of this writing, officers were still canvassing the area for the weapon and investigating the shots fired call. Hoyt is likely to be closed between 13th and 16th for most of the afternoon. We will update as more becomes available.
