Here’s an important update from WSDOT for drivers who use 529 to come into Everett in the evening…
The southbound span of the SR 529 Snohomish River Bridge closes at 8 p.m. through 4 a.m. nightly this week through Thursday as we get ready to do some heavy lifting for bridge repairs. The highway will be open heading south out of Marysville to maintain local access to Smith and Spencer islands. All drivers will be detoured off at Frontage Road. The southbound I-5 exit to SR 529 will also be closed. The closure is so we can begin setting up for repairs to the bridge, which is almost 60 years old. We’re going to replace some of the machinery that raises and lowers the drawspan. The parts are worn and cracks have developed. Replacing them will ensure the drawspan continues to go up and down reliably for many years to come. You can learn more about the repair work on theproject website.
