Everett Police Arrest Arson Suspect in South Everett

Everett Police announced late this afternoon they have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with several arson fires in south Everett. Here’s the word from EPD’s Aaron Snell…

EPD patchOn the evening of April 18, 2013, just after 11:00 p.m., officers arrested a male for malicious mischief. During the investigation of the crime, probable cause was also developed for three separate arson cases. The male was booked into the Snohomish County Jail and additional arson cases are being investigated by detectives. The arsons occurred in March and April of 2013.

On March 28, 2013, officers respond to a mattress fire in the 9300 block of Evergreen Way. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage to a power pole. Video surveillance of the incident was impounded as evidence.

On March 29, 2013, two additional fires were reported that occurred overnight in 9300 and 9400 blocks of Evergreen Way. The fires were started inside vehicles with estimated damage to one vehicle at $10,000.

On April 14, 2013, authorities at Explorer Middle School (9600 Sharon Dr.) reported an arson after Everett Fire put out a small fire in the morning hours. During the investigation, video surveillance showed a male attempting to light fires at several places on the exterior of the school building before being successful at one location. The small fire smoldered for a several hours before Everett Fire was called to put it out. The surveillance was impounded as evidence.

The male is described as Hispanic, 26 years-old, 5’10” tall, 160 pounds with black hair in a short crew cut and a long full black goatee. During the April fire, the male wore a loose light blue hooded jacket with a gray sweatshirt underneath, dark baggy jeans and white shoes.
