Snohomish County Jail in downtown Everett
Update March 1 – The Snohomish County Medical Examiner this afternoon identified the inmate who died as 41-year-old Leon Benjamin Moore from Snohomish. The cause and manner of Mr. Moore’s death remain under investigation.

A 41 year-old male inmate in custody in the Snohomish County Correctional Facility died this morning. The man was housed in the jail’s medical facility. When corrections staff went to check on the inmate, they found him not breathing and unresponsive. CPR was performed by paramedics who were called to the scene.
A death investigation will be conducted by Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office detectives, as is standard procedure. Identification of the inmate, as well as cause and manner of his death, will be determined and released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The last in-custody death at the Snohomish County Jail was ruled a homicide. In that case the death was investigated by the S.M.A.R.T. team or Snohomish Multi Agency Response Team.
