Police officers and citizens will be honored Tuesday afternoon.

The Everett Police Department will host its annual awards ceremony on Tuesday at the Everett Performing Arts Center. In previewing the list of officers to be honored, I found three different Everett Police officers will each receive medals of merit for providing CPR in the course of their duties. In one case a robbery victim’s 69-year-old husband needed CPR after chasing a suspect who snatched his wife’s purse. In another, a detective came to the aid of an elderly woman found unconscious and turning blue along an Everett roadway and in the third case, an Everett patrol officer administered CPR to a trespassing suspect in North Everett. In all three cases the CPR efforts of Everett Police officers led to a positive outcome for those involved. Other Everett police officers are being honored for their work in reducing burglaries, saving lives and one officer will receive the Brian DiBucci Award for proactive work as a patrol officer. Officers who received promotions in 2012 will be recognized and several citizens will also be honored for their efforts in keeping Everett safe. These include members of the Everett’s Citizens Against Crime volunteers along with regular citizens who stepped in to help crime victims, including a man who punched a felony assault suspect in the face in order to knock him out until police could arrive. The ceremony is open to the public and you’ll have to attend to hear the full details of the various honorees.

The ceremony is set for Tuesday February 12th at 3:30pm at the Everett Performing Arts Center at 2710 Wetmore Avenue in downtown Everett.
