Free Flu and Whooping Cough shots plus ice skating on January 26th
The Comcast Arena is putting flu season on ice.
On Saturday, January 26, the Comcast Arena will host a free public skate and vaccination clinic to serve uninsured and low-income adults in the Snohomish County area. Volunteers from the Medical Reserve Corp and staff from the Snohomish County Health District will help distribute 300 doses of the adult flu vaccine and 300 doses of the whooping-cough vaccine.
Guests of the event will skate on the arena’s main ice rink, the same rink that the Everett Silvertips play on for all their home games.
The South Everett-Mukilteo Rotary Club sought and received a district matching Rotary Club International grant to help host the clinic. The local Rotary club is partnering with the Snohomish Health District, Verdant Health Commission and Global Spectrum to promote the free vaccination clinic and skate session.
With flu season in Snohomish County proving to be more severe than usual, getting a current flu shot is the best way to prevent infection.
Vaccination is also the best protection against whooping-cough. It is especially important that all pregnant women and people – including teens – who are around newborns get the booster shot to protect the infant.
