Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a two-alarm fire that destroyed two apartments Sunday morning. Everett Fire Marshall Rick Robinson says firefighters were called to Covington Farms apartments on Holly drive in south Everett around 9am. Arriving crews saw smoke and flames coming from a second floor apartment. A second alarm was called. The fire spread directly above the fire unit to the apartment on the 3rd floor. Crews were able to contain the blaze to those two units. A cat died in one apartment but fire crews were able to save two dogs and another cat. Robinson says damage is estimated at $200,000.00. “This is a busy time of year for us,” said Robinson. “People need to be careful with Christmas trees, heaters, candles and extension cords and please don’t take the batteries out of your smoke detector.” Here are some pictures of the firefighters efforts…
