November 19, 2012

Everett, Police Blotter

6:15pm Here’s the latest update from Snohomish County Sheriff’s Spokesperson Shari Ireton: A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputy was involved in a roll over today in front of Mariner High School in South Everett. At approximately 4:30 PM today, the deputy, a 12 year veteran of law enforcement, was traveling northbound on 4th Ave W. As he was driving, he passed a silver BMW traveling southbound that was reported to have been driving recklessly. The deputy made a U-turn on 4th Ave W and, as he began to follow the silver BMW, lost control of his car, which rolled. The deputy was extracted from the car and transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. The BMW continued to head southbound, hitting a curb and damaging the vehicle enough to make it undriveable. At that point, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. He was described by witnesses to be a black male wearing a green beanie hat. The BMW is believed to be stolen.

A wild scene in front of Mariner High School as 4th Avenue West is completely shut down between Center Road and 124th street. A Snohomish County Sheriff’s car flipped over on its top. Dozens of police and firefighters on scene. The deputy in the rollover has been extracted from the patrol car and is on the way to Harborview with serious injuries. Early information is the crash involves a stolen BMW out of Everett and 2 suspects who fled on foot. 4th Avenue West is expected to be closed for some time. We’ll update when we get more information.
