Everett Fire Update Saturday 4:00pm

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner has taken charge of the body discovered at the scene of Thursday Night’s 3-Alarm fire in downtown Everett. The. M.E. will perform an autopsy and determine cause and manner of death. Meanwhile investigators from Everett’s Police and Fire Departments are continuing to look into what may have started the fire that completely destroyed the building at 1816 Hewitt Avenue. Thursday night’s downtown Everett fire left more than a dozen people homeless and destroyed everything most of them owned. The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross is accepting donations to help those people out.

Now that the body has been removed, crews will spend the rest of the weekend finishing the public safety part of the demolition before turning the building over to its owner. They hope to have that part of the work done by Monday morning.
