Volunteers of America (VOA), is announcing the grand opening of a new VOA food bank site in Snohomish County. The food bank, located at Jackson High School, began as a combined effort of the Mill Creek Rotary Club and concerned students to provide food assistance for families of the teens attending the high school. The food bank now serves hungry individuals and families from the Mill Creek area.
Volunteers of America was asked to step in and run the food bank as an outreach of the their existing food bank network. Currently, VOA has food banks in Everett, Sultan and the Greenwood neighborhood in North Seattle. Mill Creek will become the fourth of VOA’s sites, which also includes the Food Distribution Center in Everett, which accounts for all Snohomish County food banks.
“This is a great day for us,” said Leann Geiger, VOA’s Director of Food Bank Services. “Whenever there’s an opportunity for us to help the community and ensure that we can close the gap of the fed and unfed. We welcome our new Mill Creek neighbors to join us in the opening of our food bank here.”
The grand opening of the VOA Food Bank in Mill Creek is on November 13 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm and donated cake and refreshments will be provided. The food bank itself is located at 1419 Trillium Blvd SE, Portable #9, Mill Creek, WA.
